Tomorrow I'm starting my new job as a French assistant... I was really stressed until I got distracted by my boyfriend cutting his hand open and breaking a rib at his job. And then they say I'm accident-prone.

September 2010, then... )

I'll be back in Ireland tomorrow night. Another month before I start working... but I've got stuff to do. I hope that the school will give me their programm soon, so that I can start working seriously on what I'm going to do with the girls. I've got a few ideas, but my biggest problem is their level, which apparently isn't very high : I have to find material that they will be able to understand... and at the same time I'd really like to show them more of French culture and of French literature. So if I want them to study, say, Jules Verne, I have to find a text that they will be able to understand without panicking. I guess I'll have to wait a few weeks before I really start doing that kind of stuff, so that I can really evaluate their level.

Last time I had someone from the school on the phone, I was told that a teacher would always be in the classroom with me. I guess it will be handy for the first few classes, but I'm not sure about the rest of the year. Not that I really plan to do things that they might not agree with - there are a few subjects I had to give up in fear of provocating/hurting anyone's feelings - but well... I guess we'll see how it goes. And having a teacher with me doesn't mean that I won't get to do things on my own - hopefully.

Now on to what I've seen and read last month...

Late, as usual... )

Haven't read much, nor seen many movies this month... spent most of my time in front of TV shows. Hopefully it will change in July - I'm pondering on whether or not to suscribe to this program which allows you to rent up to 8 DVDs per month - you chose them on the internet and then get them by mail. If I don't suscribe to it now, I might within the next few months - given the price of cinema tickets or even of normal rental, it might be an idea. Plus discovering 2 new movies per week sounds very nice to me...

For [ profile] fannish5

List the 5 series (tv, book, or movies) that best kept their quality, from beginning to end.

1. Discworld, Terry Pratchet.
That might be considered cheating given that the series is not over, but although of course I have my favourite novels and those that didn't really appeal much to me, managing to write so many unique, funny books is absolutely amazing. Well done Sir Terry Pratchett !

2. Lord of the Rings (books), J.R.R. Tolkien
Not that I didn't like the movies, which were a very good adaptation (in "my" meaning of the word, which I might explain someday XD), but when I ended the book I felt both happy and sad because it was, as my mum used to say it very well, as if you were saying good bye to an old friend.

3. The Prisonner (1967 show), Patrick McGoohan
Yet again, you could say it's cheating, because it only lasted one season. But what a season !

4. Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes
Because Gene Hunt remained Gene Hunt, and because the end was absolutely amazing.

5. Sofia Coppola's Virgin Suicides, Lost and Translation & Marie-Antoinette
Because yes, I consider them as a trilogy. A trilogy about young woman lost in a world that don't understand them and/or that they don't understand.
gribouille: (Marvin - Don't talk to me about life)
Seen at [ profile] fannish5 : Name your five favorite spaceships.

1. TARDIS (Doctor Who)

2. Serenity (Firefly & Serenity)

3. Enterprise (Star Trek)

4. Heart of Gold (H2G2)

5. Millenium Falcon (Star Wars)

Very classical choices, as I don't know many spaceships apart from those... in fact, I don't think I know any other spaceship XD

And I realised it is in fact very difficult for me to find a specific character that I love more than the others. That mème might be easier with pairings for instance. Which explains why some of my favourite fandoms, or of my most recent ones, are not listed here.

Oh, and beware : in some of the fandoms my favourite character might have changed since the last time I did such a mème...

Very nice idea stolen from [ profile] modocanis.

Books, movies, video games... )

Oh and I finally have the date for my driving theory test (le Code in French) : April 29. Let's hope I'll pass it...
gribouille: (Twin Peaks - Coop board)

----> aspirateur
----> changer la litière
----> sortir les poubelles
----> vider le lave-vaisselle
- mes devoirs/des trucs pour la fac
----> dernier devoir d'informatique (encore de la comparaison de sites internet -_-) Et en fait la prof nous a considérablement simplifié la tâche sans le savoir, car l'un des sites que je suis sensée comparer... a fermé ! C'est ça de toujours donner les mêmes devoirs chaque année sans vérifier...
----> thème de la semaine
----> préparer les documents pour le TD de Patrimoine culturel français (je sais même plus quel sera le sujet étudié demain....) Les châteaux de la Loire. Pourquoi pas.
----> avancer le bouquin de Civi d'au moins deux chapitres Yaay ! Au prochain chapitre : les Vikings...
----> commencer à étudier le dossier de Linguistique (faudra que j'en parle ici, tiens, parce que c'est intéressant mine de rien)
----> revoir ce qu'on a fait dernièrement en Phonie et Graphie histoire de pas être paumée demain
----> écrire un peu
----> continuer mes icons pour mes divers challenges

Comment with a pairing that I ship and I'll tell you:

1. When I started shipping them
2. What I think their challenge is
3. What makes me happy about them
4. What makes me sad about them
5. What moment I wish had never happened
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other
7. My happily ever after for them

Bon dimanche tout le monde !
gribouille: (Stock - livre feuille)
