I'm back from my grand-parents' place in Tourraine. It was great.
The great story of doing nothing
I was finally able to sleep. I mean, for a whole night, without waking up. I eventually fell sick on wednesday night, but the other nights I just slept. And in the morning I would wake up, eat my breakfast, and go back to bed. On the afternoon, when I wasn't busy reading or visiting castles or swimming, I would just lay on a deckchair and droze off for a moment, which is something I used to love doing. I still do, I had just forgotten that I could do it - just sit or lie down and do nothing.
Zoos depress me
On Thursday we went to the "Zoo de Beauval", which is, I think, one of the biggest zoos in France, and also one where the animals are well taken care of (... is this sentence gramatically correct ? I'm not sure...). And it's true they looked fine, and some of them were really impressive (there was this eagle that was just... magnificent, and one of the white tigers looked just like one of my cats, only in bigger and with different fur). But I really do feel uncomfortable in zoos even though I know it helps protecting the animals and all, and that the visitors, by buying their tickets, help financing the studies. I can't help imagining myself at the animal's place, behind these transparent walls, with all these dull faces looking at me. Maybe they don't care, but I don't know that. And there are the kids hitting the glass, and the adults mimicking animal's noises. I was glad when it was over, even though I had enjoyed the day - most of it because I was with cousins I don't get to see often.
But I love castles and museums
On Wednesday we went to the "château de Blois", which is very interesting because it has been built in four parts, each one from a different period. The best part of it is the "aile François Ier", where, "according to the legend", the Duc de Guise was murdered by king Henry III's men. I don't know much of France's history during the Middle Ages (is that how we say it ?), even though I love history, so I feel like I learned a lot XD And there was this show with fencing outside, which was not bad even though one (or rather, I) could tell that the movements had been rehearsed. Which reminded me how much I loved fencing. Maybe in one year or two I will have time to go back to practice ^_^
So now I'm back...
And next Thursday, off to Ireland. Yeah ^_^ Which may or may not explain why I'm writing in english right now. It's mostly because I just felt like doing it. And I think it might be useful to post more in english this year, since a) I'm having more english-speaking friends (hello there ^_^) and b) I need practice @_@ but don't worry, french-speakers, I'm not disowning you !!!
Last but not least...
